Polytechnicers answered to the online survey conducted by the TPU Education Quality Committee. Almost 200 graduate students from the all research and educational institutes of the school, the main part of them are students of the first year of study.
Over a half of students found they have enough personal space, about 90% get along with their roommates, over 70% can quietly get prepared to classes in the wall of their dorms and nobody disturbs them.
However, part of the students recognized sometimes loud music disturbs them, which other students listened to.
Over 80% of polytechnicers built good relationships with the residence’s head, 75% found student self-management well: they always get help in complex situations.
The survey’s participants mentioned a few problems they face in the residences: a half ensured it is necessary better to keep order in the common areas, many participants complained about the noise in study rooms.
Vladislav Pustynnikov, a representative of the Education Quality Committee from the TPU Institute of Cybernetics, such kind of survey was conducted for the first time and it is planned to run every year.
“Conditions in the residences are directly related to studying: the best academic results require the best conditions.
Our objective is to assist students in solving any occurring problem. The received information will be sent to the TPU Housing and Consumer Committee to further improving living conditions in the dorms,”
– said Vladislav Pustynnikov.
To be reminded, in 2016 TPU campus received the Best Campus Award in Russia by the RF Ministry of Education and Science.
