TPU announces a contest for funding promising research and applied projects

The 2019 Promising Research Projects Contest opens at Tomsk Polytechnic University. The TPU Competitiveness Enhancement Program will support winner scientific teams to conduct basic research and applied projects.

The contest announced for 2019 has a number of key features.

The head of TPU Information and Analytical Division Sergey Zamyatin tells:

‘This time Tomsk Polytechnic University runs the two-type contest of research projects that means to support teams conducting basic research and implementing applied market-focused projects of the university researchers. In turn, there are two categories of participants in each of them, i.e. ‘young’ (all team members are under 30 years) and ‘experienced’ teams.

The main objective of the contest of basic research is to identify and support active research teams. Hence, one of the main parameters for evaluating an application is the research activity of scientists, revealed in joint publications. As for the contest of applied projects, it is planned to support projects the relevance of which is confirmed by the needs of companies from the real sector of the economy.’

One of the requirements for applied projects is a request of an enterprise willing to conclude the R & D contract with a particular TPU research team.

Winners will receive one-year funding in the amount of 2-7 mln rubles for each project.

There are individual requirements for each type of projects and for each category of participants. More detailed information is available in the Regulations on the Contest. Hard copy and electronic applications are accepted until 14 December 2018 (324 room, Main building, or ).

The contest winners will be announced before 25 December 2018.
