Petr Chubik: ‘A successful person is that who can change with time. Our university is a striking case in point.’

Acting Rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University congratulates TPU fellows on the 123rd anniversary.

‘Dear employees, students, and alumni of TPU! Dear TPU fellows! My congratulations to you on the 123rd anniversary of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University!

A successful person is that who can change with time. Our university is a living organism that has been growing and developing for 123 years. The oldest technical university east of Moscow, TPU operates today keeping the best traditions of the past and using the accumulated potential. It is a training center for new economic leaders, which encourages them to be forward looking. Being the first to respond to the changes both in global and Russian higher education, we are dynamically progressing on the enhancement of international competitiveness, proving out the inexhaustibility of intellectual resources and educational capabilities of Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Breakthroughs in rankings, growing international recognition, strengthened position on the global educational market, the leadership among Russian universities in extra-budgetary R & D contracts, network cooperation, unparalleled achievements and cutting-edge technology like space, the Arctic, biochemistry, nuclear technology…

All this is a testament to the fact that the potential of Tomsk Polytechnic University as a world-class engineering university is being constantly strengthened. What seemed impossible yesterday, today becomes an integral part of one of the largest ‘suppliers’ of elite engineers for the economy of Russia.

In the vein of rapid changes, our University functions as a strong link in the science-state-economy bond.

Responding to the federal agenda, TPU trains next-generation specialists for living in new realities as a direct participant of the Strategy of Science and Technology Development of the Russian Federation, NTI, Digital Economy program, and large-scale national projects. The transition to the next technological level calls for novel approaches to the quality of higher engineering education. As pioneers we often pursue our primary goal through experiments. However, we are definitely aware that present innovators solely can bring up agents of tomorrow’s change.

Dear friends! Tomsk Polytechnic University as a school of large opportunities gives everyone, without exception – from a student to the rector, the full right to make adjustments in their personal story of success, and therefore, in the modern historical chronicle of one of the leaders of higher technical education in Russia.

I am convinced that we have enough professionalism to remain authors of unique projects, truly meaningful tasks, and fateful decisions. We have enough strength and expertise to bring up the new generation of superspecialists who are ready for any challenges of a dynamic and evolving environment. We have reasons for optimism!

Happy anniversary of Alma Mater, dear TPU fellows! Happiness, health, and well-being to you and your families! Excellent knowledge and brilliant prospects in the name our Fatherland!’
