Tomsk Polytechnic University among 2% of all universities in the world

Tomsk Polytechnic University ranks 387th in the overall table according to QS World University Rankings 2020, which was published earlier today. 

QS WUR 2020 assesses universities in 82 countries. 1,620 universities were considered for the new table, best 1001 were selected. Experts estimate that there are approximately 20,000 universities globally.

According to QS World University Rankings 2020, Tomsk Polytechnic University takes the 387th place and enters 2% of all universities in the world. TPU entered the ranking in 2011 for the first time, starting its movement from positions 551-600.

The ranking was compiled using six metrics: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per Faculty, International Faculty Ratio, International Student Ratio. Each metric has its own weigh in the overall score of an institution.

In 2020 ranking, QS WUR Tomsk Polytechnic University demonstrated a steady increase of scores in such indicators as Citation per Faculty and International Faculty Ratio. The scores of Citations per Faculty have increased by 1.5 times compared to 2019. TPU ranks 127th (in contrast to 139th in 2019) in International Student Ratio.

When compiling the ranking experts analyzed 139 thousands of surveys of scholars and employers from all over the world. 50 universities were additionally included in the table. Besides, only 25 Russian institutions were ranked by QS.
