TPU Shifts Lectures to a Distance Learning Mode until the End of the Autumn Term

Tomsk Polytechnic University has set up a new mode of study until January 24, 2021, the end of the autumn term for bachelor programs’ students of the fourth year of study and until the end of the first week of February for other students. All lectures and practical classes for all years of study are transferred into a distance learning mode. The end-of-term exams will also be held online. The laboratory classes which cannot be arranged without special equipment will be held in the university premises in compliance with anti-epidemiological measures. The schedule will be adjusted so that all the laboratory classes are completed until December 1, 2020.

The decision to change the mode of the university operation has been taken in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

“The universities of the region discussed the changes in the mode of operation at the Consortium Session of Tomsk Universities and Academic Institutions. TPU decided to arrange two modes of study adapted to different students. However, the lectures and practical classes that do not require working with special equipment will be arranged only remotely.

We will maintain this mode of study until the end of the autumn term. The decision on extending or changing the mode of study will be taken in accordance with the epidemiologic situation,”

For all the students of bachelor`s, master`s, and specialist`s programs, lectures, practical classes, and end-of-term exams are held online. Some laboratory classes will be held until December 1, 2020, in the university premises (for the educational programs with a large number of laboratory classes – until mid-December, 2020).

Since December 1, 2020, final-year students and Ph.D. students are allowed to conduct research projects in the laboratories individually.
