The Club of Russian Language and Culture Zhar Ptitsa has completed another season of its regular work. The Club arranges meetings for international students throughout a year. This year, over 400 people became its members. Read more about the Zhar Ptitsa events on the TPU channel on Yandex.Dzen.

Zhar Ptitsa is a creative association of international students and professors of the Division for Russian Language of the TPU School of Core Engineering Education. For over 10 years, the club has been an open venue for discussing relevant problems and breathtaking topics in the Russian language, literature, history and culture.

“Members of Zhar Ptitsa are international students of the Big University. They have similar interests and goals: get familiar with Tomsk, Russian traditions, dive deep into the language and cultural environment, communicate with each other, as well as with Russian students and professors in an informal environment and, of course, make new friends,”

says Marina Bokhonnaya, associate professor of the TPU School of Core Engineering Education and a project coordinator.

This year, Zhar Ptitsa covered six areas of the Club work: a game club, a conversation club, a walking tour club, literature clubs, a movie club and a professional communication club. The Club meetings were held in an interactive mode. In total, over 400 people took part in the events, among them there were not only TPU students but also internationals from other Tomsk universities. Undoubtedly, the Club members most enjoyed the game club, the walking tour club and the movie club.

Zhar Ptitsa together with its students and professors is having vacations from July till September. A new season starts in September.

“We are not treading water, we are trying to keep up with the times, taking new priorities, modes and students’ needs into consideration. In the upcoming study year, we are intending to make some changes not only to the meeting mode but also to the clubs’ members. New interesting areas of the Club work are going to replace those ones, which are not in a demand. We are also going to fill the popular events with relevant content,”

 comments Marina Bokhonnaya.
