EAGE student chapter opened at TPU

A student chapter of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) was opened at the Petroleum Learning Center of Tomsk Polytechnic University. The opening of the chapter will give students opportunities to participate in the Association’s competitions for grants and scholarships, to introduce own scientific and professional initiatives and to get access to leading journals in the field of geology, geophysics, oil and gas geology. EAGE was established in 1951 and now it unites over 19,000 members in more than 100 countries in the world. EAGE members, including student members, are professionally involved in general geology, geophysics, petroleum survey, oil and gas geology, mining and civil engineering or the study of geosciences. EAGE organizes a range of events worldwide from small seminars devoted to a certain topic to large conferences, including the largest annual geoscience conference.   TPU became the first university in Tomsk to open EAGE student chapter. ‘Undoubtedly, the cooperation with the Association opens a range of opportunities to our students. The Student Foundation of EAGE allocates grants and covers students’ expenses to participate in the association’s events, funds scholarships and student lecture tours. For example, students can take part in the online geo-quiz and win a free trip to the EAGE annual conference, participate in EAGE FIELD Challenge and win funding on a trip to the final of the competition in one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe,’ points out the Director of Petroleum Learning Center Valeriy Rukovishnikov.   TPU students will get access to First Break, Geophysical Prospecting, Near Surface Geophysics, Petroleum Geoscience and Basin Research journals, as well as to EarthDoc scientific library and publications database with more than 60,000 articles.
