Tomsk Polytechnic University will be represented by nine international students from two teams. These are the students of the pre-university department from Argentina, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Colombia, and Mongolia.
The competition will be held in two stages according to the rules approved by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. Eight teams of four players each will take part in the competition. First, the teams will be split into two groups by drawing lots and will play in a round robin system in one round. Teams ranked first and second in the subgroups automatically advance to the semifinals, and the winners of the semifinals compete in the finals for the leadership.The students, who made up the teams, came to Russia just seven months ago. Now, they are immersed in learning the Russian language to get into the university. Sports is a powerful tool in this respect. The curling team came together in a short time. None of the team members had professional experience with the sport before. Technique is of great importance in curling.
