Over 50 Internationals to Continue Education at Russian Universities after TPU Pre-University Department

This year, 111 international students from 29 countries have completed their training courses at the TPU Pre-University Department. During the academic year, they studied the Russian language and some major subjects to continue their education at TPU and other Russian universities.

On July 8, the Department graduates received their certificates on successful completion of the course.

In total, 57 students completed their training to obtain a degree at university, 10 of them were outstood with certificates of appreciation for academic excellence. Most of the graduates, 43 course attendees are intending to study at TPU. Among the most popular bachelor’s degrees where the international students are planning to submit their application documents, there are Software Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics, Petroleum Engineering. Meanwhile, Materials Science and Materials Technology is one of the most attractive master’s degree programs.

International students from Mongolia, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Yemen, Columbia, Ecuador and other countries completed their pre-university training. Moreover, citizens of Angola and Peru have first become course attendees.

“Our academic staff use all methods to teach internationals in a short period understand not only conversational Russian but also Russian for special purposes from scratch. Besides, they actively assist the internationals in social engagement and adaptation: they deliver the students to the excursions and museums, lead various clubs within the Club of Russian Language and Culture Zhar Ptitsa.

The study at the TPU Pre-University Department is quite complicated. Students always have a rather intensive study schedule. Unfortunately, not all attendees obtain their certificates on completion of the course. The essential thing here is those students, who come here, have an engineering mindset and it is quite difficult for them to learn Russian. Therefore, such students sometimes repeat the course,” comments head of the TPU Pre-University Department Marina Nebera.

The international students who studied a biomedical track of the training will submit their applications to study at Russian medical universities. Among the graduates of the training, there are two internationals, who have chosen to study economic majors at TUSUR University.

The training course at the TPU Pre-University Department starts on October 1 and completes in late June. It starts with an intensive course in the Russian language and after major subjects such as physics, math, chemistry and others are added. During the study time, international students master the pre-university course, which allows them to be enrolled at any Russian university and study general education programs in Russian.
