This year, the ranking assessed 368 universities across Russia by their performance.
"The ranking includes all leading universities nationwide: 28 national research universities, 10 federal universities, 32 core universities, as well as 98 universities participating in the Priority 2030 program. In addition, seven private universities were also assessed as to their performance," according to the ranking team.
In the new release, Tomsk Polytechnic University ranked 10th, having improved its position from the previous year.
The assessment was based on the data from surveys submitted by universities, available public data posted by educational institutions on their websites, public data from information resources of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and information from the SPARK-Interfax and SCAN-Interfax information and analysis systems.
The performance of universities was assessed by six indicators: education, research, social environment, cooperation, innovation & entrepreneurship, and identity. All scores for each indicator and the overall score were converted to a dimensionless 1,000-point scale, where universities were ranked in a descending order. The ranking authors note that the overall ranking is the total of all six indicators.
