TPU geologists and chemists propose novel naturally-occurring mineral-based material for optoelectronic applications
In a groundbreaking discovery, a team of researchers, in collaboration with their international counterparts, has unearthed a remarkable photoresponse phenomenon in a two-dimensional semiconductor, arsenic trisulfide (As2S3), sourced from a Russian quarry mineral. This material exhibits a remarkable photoresponse effect even at low light intensities, which opens up prospects for the development of energy-efficient optoelectronic devices. The research was supported by the Priority-2030 program of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education (026-202-2024).
