New large-scale artwork of a mural (a piece of graphic artwork that is painted or applied directly to a wall, ceiling or other permanent substrates – ed.) has been painted in the TPU Engineer’s Yard (30, Lenina Avenue, entrance on the right side from the TPU main building). The mural’s overall area is 139 m2. It decorates the walls of former stables.
The drawing was painted by the team of the Street Vision Agency with the support of the group of companies EFKO (Biryuch innovation center).
“A color scheme and chosen images of the composition are made in the TPU corporate colors.
Besides references to the well-known TPU cube, the artists used various abstract figures, which highlight training and research areas of TPU engineering and research schools,”
explain the artists.
The Engineer’s Yard is a new location opened downtown Tomsk on to the 126th anniversary of TPU. There are popular scientific lectures, concerts and workshops held there. There are already art installations made by the young artists on the Yard territory. There is an art exhibition Beautiful. Engineering. Polytechnic. opened inside the Yard. These are photos taken while research by TPU scientists: pictures of the next generation of fuel and materials under a microscope, as well as interior pictures of university buildings, photos of the nuclear research reactor and research equipment. The Engineer’s Yard is open to everyone interested in art every day.
TPU and the group of companies EFKO concluded a cooperation agreement in autumn 2020. Within the agreement, TPU students undergo practice in the EFKO innovation center Biryuch, meanwhile, company experts take part in TPU research projects. A lounge zone for students has been equipped in the TPU chemical building. A new microbiological laboratory equipped with the support of the group of companies was opened in the TPU chemical building in May.
