TPU Ranks in Top 10 for Promising Student Startups

The University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform has published a national ranking of the Top 1000 Startups, featuring the most promising university startup projects. Tomsk Polytechnic University is represented by 21 startup projects. As a result, the university ranked seventh and entered the top 10 for the number of grant holders.

The ranking is based on the results of expert evaluation of the Student Startup Contest winners and a presentation of the top-50 best university startups for 2022 by the Innovation Assistance Fund and the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs.

This high appraisal given to our student projects can be attributed to day-to-day work of a large technological entrepreneurship team of B51 Startup Lab at TPU. It helps students 'package' their startups into ready-to-market products, write grant applications and prepare for pitches, advises teams and invites established entrepreneurs to meetings with students. Of course, this achievement also belongs to the students, who come up with ideas and create new projects. In May, we are expecting the results of the third wave of the Student Startup Contest with 31 projects submitted by TPU students. I am convinced they will strengthen and advance the position of the university in the ranking,

— Tatiana Chernyaeva, head of the B51 Startup Lab at Tomsk Polytechnic University, notes.
The projects of TPU students listed in the ranking include a magnetic system for water-oil emulsions separation during oil treatment in the field, a 3D printer for confectionery, a historical fencing simulator, a convertiplane for cargo delivery and land surveying, an electric grid mode optimizer, an analog synthesizer with sound processing modules, an electronic educational construction kit, a digital optical evaluation system for particle size distribution of oil emulsion, a functional cellular assay system based on broadband pulsed electroimpedance spectroscopy and many others.

It is worth noting that in 2022 students of Tomsk Polytechnic University won more than 30 million rubles for the development of their startups.
