Tomsk Polytechnic University rector Petr Chubik has visited the Republic of Kazakhstan by invitation of the Science Director of the International Science Complex Astana (ISCA) Marat Shaikhutdinov. During the visit TPU rector discussed the issue of joining ISCA, at business meeting he presented the educational and scientific and technical potential of Tomsk Polytechnic University.
The International Science Complex ASTANA is a unique project of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev aimed at creating innovative research complex - an international university of the new generation in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. ISCA is an innovative platform in the center of the Eurasian continent, which consolidated the resources of the world’s leading universities, research centers, major corporations and holdings.
TPU became the second Russian university being invited like MSU to participate in the large-scale international project. ISCA also cooperates with leading universities in China, USA, Great Britain, Malaysia (Fudan University, Columbia University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Science, Malaysia, etc.)
The directions of cooperation between TPU and ISCA were discussed during the business meetings with the ISCA Director for Science Marat Shaikhutdinov, Deputy Chair of the ISCA Board of Directors Ermek Imantaev, the ISCA President Serek Irsaliev and the scientific director of the ISCA Institute of Computer Science and Security, the First Vice-President of the RK Academy of Sciences Maxat Kalimoldaev.
The same business negotiations were also held at several key ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On the trip, the rector met the Minister of Education and Science Erlan Sagadiev, where he told about the most popular academic programs, internships places and employers among RK students, the outcomes and prospects of cooperation between TPU and partner universities in Kazakhstan.
Scientific developments and technologies of Tomsk Polytechnic University were highly appreciated in the framework of the business meetings of the rector and the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Muslim Altynbaev, as well as the Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry Beibut Atamkulov.
At the end of the visit, Petr Chubik visited the National Space Center in Astana and met here with National Hero of Kazakhastan, Vice President for Creation and Operation of Space Systems JSC 'NC Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary', cosmonaut Aydyn Aimbetov.
As a result of the business meetings priority areas of cooperation between TPU and ISCA were identified. They are key degree programs (master studies) and promising scientific developments of the University in the domain of digital environment, space, peaceful atom, and ecology.
Professor Mikhail Sonkin from the TPU School of Computer Science & Robotics worked together with the TPU rector in Kazakhstan.
