‘You have something to be proud of’: the head of the Russian Student Squads visits a TPU dormitory

TPU alumnus, Deputy Chair of the Commission for Social Policy, Labor Relations, Cooperation with Trade Unions and Support of Veterans of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kiselev who is also a chairman of the Russian Student Squads has visited TPU dormitory № 6 equipped for students with limited mobility and met members of the Polytechnic Student Squad of the University.

Together with the authorities, the city prosecutor’s office, the Russian Society of Disabled People and other members of the public, Mikhail Kiselev took the initiative to inspect the accessibility of Tomsk hotels, restaurants, and the urban environment for special needs people.

The university alumnus met members of the Polytechnic Student Squad. He discussed student activities, shared stories from his student life in Tomsk, and answered questions of TPU students. The meeting was held at TPU dormitory № 6.

Mikhail Kiselev emphasized:

‘We are still friends with those who were also engaged in meaningful everyday activities.

A lot of worthy graduates of Tomsk Polytechnic University work in the Apparatus of the Government of the Russian Federation.’

The first floor of TPU dormitory № 6 located in 18a Pirogova St. is equipped for disabled people. There are six single rooms with special mirrors and adjustable furniture. The halls on the first floor are specially marked for visually impaired students, and the entrance is equipped with a ramp. 

‘I can definitely say that so far I have never seen either such dormitories as at TPU or the interiors and equipment of university buildings even in Moscow. You definitely have something to be proud of,’
