St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Tomsk Polytechnic University to develop educational competencies as a part of National Technology Initiative

Viktor Dyomin, acting rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University, paid a visit to the new production technology division of the National Technical Initiative Center, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU). The main topic of the meeting was prospects for cooperation between universities, primarily on the center’s educational programs.

At the meeting, Alexey Borovkov the SPbPU vice-rector for innovative projects and the head of the center, spoke about the center achievements, the development strategy, and implementation of high-tech projects. Also, he shared the experience in cooperation with world-class research and educational centers.

Representatives of the NTI Competence Center paid particular attention to educational paths. They spoke about continuing education programs, educational courses for specialists of high-tech organizations, and interaction with international companies.

The parties discussed the cooperation prospects on creation of the university mirror engineering center to transfer competencies in the field of digital twins, digital design and numerical simulation. The centers created by partner universities jointly with the NTI Competence Center, allow developing cooperation with industrial partners.

Viktor Demin expressed great interest in further collaboration with the SPbPU Center. The participants discussed the prospects for implementing joint projects and agreed on further steps to develop cooperation.

The NTI Competence Centers are engineering and educational consortia which implement programs aimed to overcome technological barriers to achieve leadership of Russian companies in global markets. NTI Centers are created in partnership with universities, leading research organizations, and commercial partners. To date, 14 NTI Centers have been created.
