Andrey Yakovlev: TPU to Expand Cooperation With Research Institutes of the Russian Academy of Science

Andrey Yakovlev, TPU Acting Rector believes that cooperation with RAS institutes is a necessary foundation for ensuring the high research activity and developing advanced technologies for industry.

Alexander Sergeev, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supported the Strategic Academic Leadership Program of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. “RAS is ready to provide the comprehensive scientific and methodological support for the program in terms of creating the abovementioned partnership, consortia as well as providing the academic venues of our branches to discuss the development programs of these associations. In addition, we are ready to form academic supervisory boards at universities, work at venues at these universities, and so on,” the RAS President says.

According to Alexander Sergeeev, the cooperation of the RAS and universities is a tradition for Russian science. Therefore, the Russian Academy is ready to provide comprehensive support for the new program and actively participate in its implementation.

“One of the TPU key development areas is the expansion of sustainable scientific cooperation with the RAS institutes. It ensures a high level of fundamental and applied research and contributes to the development of proactive import substitution and export-oriented technologies demanded by the industry.

We also intend to recruit more RAS scientists as teachers and implement new formats of joint Master and postgraduate programs with RAS institutes. ”

He also added that such cooperation would facilitate the influx of new scientific personnel into the RAS institutes.


Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, has introduced the Strategic Academic Leadership Program based on the principles of integration and cooperation of scientific and educational organizations, and the principles of competition and openness. The discussion of the program became the main topic of the RAS meeting.
