Distance Learning Mode and Public Holiday: How TPU to Work during First Week of November

A decision on how Tomsk Polytechnic University will work during the first week of November has been made. 

For administrative staff, who is not engaged in an educational process, the entire first week of November will be stay-at-home days at full salary. In case of necessity, some employees will have to come to work from November 1 to 3.

The educational process will not be stopped during these days, however, all the classes will be held remotely. Therefore, November 1 to 3 will be work and academic days for TPU students and teachers, while November 4 will be a public holiday and November 5 and 6 will be academic days according to the schedule. 

All the lectures will be held only online. In case of practicals, laboratory practicals and midterm assessments cannot be held remotely, they will be rescheduled later. 

The TPU Swimming Pool will be open due to its regular business hours when the TPU Library will be not open at all. Although, the Library will be available online: students will have remote access to over 80 million resources and the TPU Library staff will promptly answer the questions of users on the VKontakte public group. 

Any further decisions regarding the mode of the educational process at TPU, the university leadership will make based on the epidemiological situation in Tomsk Oblast, recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor).

It must be mentioned that there are available dates in the first week of November for vaccination against COVID-19 at the vaccination station (Usova 13V Street). Making an appointment for vaccination is possible online following the link. Vaccination stations for students have started to work in the residence halls. The changes of the work mode of the university are related to the decree of President of Russia Vladimir Putin “On the establishment of stay-at-home days on the territory of the Russian Federation in October and November 2021”. The degree was taken “to prevent the further spread of COVID-19” and provides for the introduction of stay-at-home days at a full salary for employees from October 30 to November 7.
